The National Customs Directorate of Uruguay reported that the second part of the Container Control Program Course of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the World Customs Organization (UNODC-WCO) ended this Thursday (17.06/2022/XNUMX).

The objectives of the proposal were Strengthen structures and processes to enable the implementation of sustainable laws for selected States and ports, in order to minimize the exploitation of maritime containers for illicit drug trafficking and other transnational organized crime activities.
Similarly, and for greater efficiency, this Programme facilitates cooperation against crime between States and international organisations involved in regulating container traffic.
To this end, Jaime Borgiani announced that “The Container Control Unit will surely be installed in our country next Monday, which will operate at the headquarters of the National Customs Directorate.", the official information indicated.
Approximately 90 percent of global trade is carried via shipping containers, of which more than 500 million are delivered annually in the trade supply chain. Of this amount, less than 2 percent are inspected.
