The Federal Fisheries Council (CFP), made up of the national government and the coastal provinces, established a maximum permissible catch of 5.000 tons per year for the Southern Hake species, one of the varieties found in Argentine continental waters.
This is established by the Resolution 1 / 2018, published in the Official Gazette this Thursday (15.2.2018), following a technical report from the National Institute for Fisheries Research and Development that evaluated the status of the southern hake and concluded that there has been "a slight recovery" of the species since 2012.
According to the standard, the Maximum allowable catch of the southern hake species for 2018 will be 5.000 tons, considering that it is an acceptable extraction level for Maintain resource sustainability.
This is a similar tonnage to that authorized for other varieties of hake, such as the blue hake or the black hake. For the Hubbsi or common hake, the most widespread species in national waters, the quotas are higher, at around 290.000 tonnes.
