The General Directorate of Customs (DGA) decided to grant more time for companies to finalize the rehabilitation of export destination applications.
This is established by the General Resolution 5291/2022, published this Thursday (24.11.2022), whose text specifies that this mechanism is extended until February 28, 2023, inclusive.
The regulations authorize the customs offices of registration to extend the period, for a period not longer than the original period, for the rehabilitation of export applications, when the latter is insufficient due to reasons of force majeure duly accredited to the customs service.
The export application, which is given within the framework of section 3 of article 38 of Decree No. 1.001/82, is the procedure that companies must carry out before the DGA to report the type of merchandise that they will send abroad, together with its destination, tariff item, weight, price and quantities, for proper control. The document is valid for 31 days, but after this period it can be extended for the same period for reasons of force majeure.
The measure was implemented by AFIP – DGA in December 2021, through General Resolution 5132/2021. It was subsequently extended in March and July 2022.
The new extension is based on the fact that the problems linked to the pandemic continue, in addition to "the inconveniences caused by the war between Russia and Ukraine, which severely affect foreign trade, further aggravating the crisis facing international maritime transport," according to the DGA in the recitals of the Resolution.
