-

With the presence of more than 60 participants The webinar “Benefits of the mutual recognition arrangement of the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program between Chile and Brazil”, organized by the National Customs Service of Chile, whose focus was to inform about the benefits available to certified national operators with cargo destined for Brazil.

The welcome to the meeting was in charge of the National Director of Customs, Alejandra Arriaza Loeb, who highlighted: “Today, the security of the logistics chain processes is absolutely a priority. In this sense, we have a great ally in the OEA program, which guarantees compliance with the standards by the operators who have opted for certification.”

“We are in a scenario where the fight against organized crime is a battle that must be waged by all actors, and in that sense, the fact that there are more and more private entities accredited as OAS allows us to monitor those areas where there is more risk,” he added.

The working day had as exhibitors: Magdalena Oblitas, Head of the AEO Program Unit of the National Customs Service of Chile, and Jose Guilherme Vasconcelos, Auditor of the Authorized Economic Operator Program of the Federal Revenue Service of Brazil.

So far in 2022, Brazil ranks 5th in terms of purchasing national products, with a 4,7% share of total exports.

Chilean Customs recalled that both countries signed the Mutual Recognition Agreement last May, which determined that their AEO programs are compatible with the framework of standards to secure and facilitate global trade (SAFE Framework) of the World Customs Organization (WCO).

At the end of the morning's work, the Head of the OAS Unit, Magdalena Oblitas, said: “It was an interesting day, with a large participation of companies that are exporting to Brazil, which reflects a growing interest in accessing accreditation on the part of national operators.” He added that the challenge is to make known the safety standards and the benefits that their implementation brings to accredited companies, and that there are currently 28 operators in the process of certification.

Currently, Chile has a total of 39 certified operators: 9 certified importing companies, 5 exporters, 24 Customs Agents and 1 express delivery shipping company.
