This Friday (4.5.2018) the Federal Court of First Instance of Venado Tuerto was inaugurated, with an event that was attended by the president of the Council of the Judiciary of the Nation, Miguel Piedecasas and members of the Federal Court of Appeals of Rosario.
According to Piedecasas, This new court will allow us to more adequately deal with crimes that are under federal jurisdiction in the province of Santa Fe."The opening of this court is of great social and political importance because it will relieve the pressure on the first instance courts in Rosario, which currently handle all cases in the south of the province," he said.
The court will have jurisdiction in Venado Tuerto, Casilda, Villa Constitución and Melincué, and will have jurisdiction in civil, commercial, administrative litigation, labor, special laws, social security, and criminal and correctional matters.
He assumed as Federal Judge Dr. Aurelio Cuello Murua, and will be headed by the Public Defender Silvina Andrea Costa and by the prosecutor Javier Arzubi Calvo.
In this regard, Piedecasas explained that it has already been possible to ensure that the court has the infrastructure, human and technological resources needed "to confront the scourge of organized crime in the region, as well as the prosecution and The Ombudsman will have at his disposal the necessary federal security forces so that they function correctly and without the delays that would be involved in requesting this personnel from Rosario."
Likewise, Piedecasas said he will also insist on the need for a federal prison in the jurisdiction"since one of the problems is that there are people who are detained in different penitentiary units throughout the country and who, due to their connection with trials that are being processed in this federal jurisdiction, must be temporarily housed for the purposes of the trial and there are no suitable places in the region."
