Peru opens website to assist companies affected by military offensive against Ukraine

-

Russia's invasion of Ukraine is already impacting the global economy. In response, the Peruvian government has launched a platform so that companies can access updated information on the effects of the conflict on the sector, and report any incidents in their foreign trade operations.r.

With this tool, the foreign trade sector is prioritizing specific actions to address the reported incidents, and thus ensure that the economic impact on the national exporting and importing business community is as small as possible, Mincetur reported in a statement.

"We have already identified the companies that make significant shipments to Russia and Ukraine, in order to work on alternative markets and proposals that allow them to continue their operations. The concern of President Pedro Castillo's government is for the people (affected Peruvians) and for facilitating trade in goods and services in the country," said Minister Roberto Sánchez.

In this way, on the enabled website, companies will be able to find information about announcements made by maritime and airline agencies, information on the commercial sphere with both markets, and reports will be shared on the development of economic activity in international trade, reported by the network of Commercial Offices Abroad (OCEX) of Promperú.

Mincetur also reported that they are preparing commercial intelligence reports to provide immediate assistance in the search for alternative destinations to those in the conflict zone in order to advise importers who require alternative markets of origin and suppliers.

The objective of the initiative is to promote the implementation, which began in 2021, of the "Work Plan for the Mitigation of the Impact of the International Transport Crisis" within the framework of the Multisectoral Commission for the Facilitation of Foreign Trade (COMUFAL)., led by Mincetur.

In addition, given the closure of airspace and ports in the region, advice will be provided on alternative logistics routes that do not entail higher transportation costs for companies.

To encourage these actions, PromPerú will hold macro-regional webinars to inform companies about the impact of the conflict, as well as specialized training seminars for the search for alternative markets, logistics guidance tools, payment methods, among others.

Those interested will find the schedule at www.exportemos.pe (Press release from Mincetur)
