The Central American Customs Committee held an extraordinary meeting to review the RECAUCA amendments

 The Central American Customs Committee, made up of the General Directors of Customs in the region, held an extraordinary virtual meeting on Tuesday (08.03.2022) to discuss the modifications to the articles of the Regulations of the Central American Uniform Customs Code (RECAUCA), official sources said.

At the same extraordinary meeting, chaired by Panama in its capacity as Pro Tempore President of SIECA, Eleven articles of RECAUCA were approved, which had not been agreed upon in the last session by Costa Rica.

In parallel, The meeting schedule of the Drafting Committee for the update of the Central American Uniform Customs Code (CAUCA) and its Regulations (RECAUCA) for the first half of 2022 was approved.

It should be noted that, in Central America, these works are to define the new version of the central customs instruments of regional economic integration, such as the Central American Uniform Customs Code and its Regulations. A main component of the reform is the adaptation of its provisions to the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement.
