Raffoul Arab, general manager of Tocumen International Airport (AITSA), presented the development project “Tocumen Cargo City", which includes the concession for the development of the cargo terminal and the Logistics Zone, regulated under the free zone regime (Law 32 of 2011).
This project will take advantage of Tocumen's competitive advantages as the region's main air hub that connects daily more than 80 commercial destinations, and More than 50 air cargo destinations integrating a multimodal axis with the country's maritime and land transport operations, according to information provided this Wednesday (17.01.2024/XNUMX/XNUMX) by Panamanian Customs.
Raffoul Arab explained that this is a project of countries contemplated in the "Teachers' development plan 2015 – 2035» which includes improvements to the cargo terminal infrastructure based on demand and presents large-scale investment projects that will impact global and regional trade once they are operational.
The development of the "Tocumen Cargo City" project covers a total of 124 hectares owned by AITSA, with the aim of attracting investments of more than 300 million dollars in its first phases and generating more than 9 thousand new jobs in the private sector.

The cargo terminal handled more than 208,000 metric tons of air cargo in 2023, according to AITSA figures.
