-

After the Intervention by the President of the Nation, Javier MileiAt the 54th World Economic Forum in Davos, Foreign Minister Diana Mondino continued her intense agenda of activities on Wednesday afternoon (17.01.2024), focused on trade and new technologies for Argentina's growth. She participated in dialogues and panels, focusing on equal conditions for Argentine and foreign companies and on the country's initiative to join the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

During his speech at the “Latin America's Economic Realism”, Mondino stated that “The best way to grow is through exportss; and not only with the effort that we Argentines make, but with foreign direct investment. To achieve this, we are working to put Argentine and foreign companies on equal terms, which was not the case, and so that everyone, Argentines, but also, hopefully, foreigners, can invest," according to a statement from the Argentine Foreign Ministry.

In relation to foreign investment, the Chancellor indicated that "we must consider it from multiple points of view: not only money; they also bring technology and certain elements of corporate governance and above all, access to markets.”

Mondino also added, "We are not only working on the economic issue per se, but, for example, We are starting the process of accessing the OECD, which is long and will take years. We are taking into account the restrictions, regulations and benefits that exist in the more developed countries. If we want to have the same development as the others, we have to do the same thing that the others did in order to develop," he said.

The Argentine Foreign Minister shared the panel with the Executive Director of Cosan (Brazil), Luis Henrique Cals de Beauclair Guimarães; the Governor of the State of Baja California, Mexico, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda; the Minister of Finance of Chile, Mario Marcel; and the Governor of the Central Bank of Peru, Julio Velarde.

Diana Mondino actively participated in the World Economic Forum, highlighting Argentina's commitment to strengthening international economic relations, promoting foreign investment and adopting advanced technologies.

Thus, Mondino participated in the working lunch “Logging Into Latin America – The disruptive impact of emerging technologies and AI”, together with the Minister of Economy and the Chief of Staff of our country.
