The Argentine Government decided cancel the procedure regime Plans Automatic and Non-Automatic Licences in definitive import destinations for consumption, through the Resolution 1 / 2023 of the Ministry of Commerce.
Licences are mechanisms for collecting information for statistical purposes approved by the World Trade Organization (WTO). While automatic licenses are all approved after the application is submitted within 10 days, non-automatic licenses cannot exceed 30 days or 60 days if they are all analyzed simultaneously. In no case, the WTO emphasizes, can they be used as mechanisms that distort trade.
In this line, the regulation of the Ministry of Commerce decided la abolition of the obligation established by the Resolution 523 / 2017, in order to "simplify the processing of import operations and in line with the implementation of the Statistical System of Imports (LOCATIONS). "
Thus, the measure will come into effect in force from December 27th 2023.
