The Superintendency of Tax Administration of Guatemala (SAT-G) announced on Monday (27.03.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX) the launch of the Trade Facilitation Task Force Pilot Plan (FTFC) in Puerto Quetzal, on the Pacific coast, through which half of the merchandise exported from the Central American country is shipped.
According to official information, the initiative consists of a Elite unit which will be able to issue and receive national and international alerts to monitor containers with incidents that threaten health, safety and tax collection in Guatemala.
In view of this, the pilot plan aims to have a greater prior control of containers and merchandise, SAT-G said in a statement, in which it reported that the initiative has the Support from the United States Customs and Border Protection Office (CBP).
The state entity clarified that the Trade Facilitation Task Force is made up of SAT Customs personnel; from the Ministries of the Interior, National Defense and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food (MAGA); this working group will have as its main objective promote the use of technological tools, have specialized analysis equipment for control and facilitation, as well as skills in inspection and use of non-intrusive tools.
This action by SAT-G is part of the fifth objective of the Institutional Strategic Plan: Comprehensive modernization of the Customs and Foreign Trade Service.
