The Guatemalan Customs Office reported this Thursday (02.06.2022/164/10) that the alternate contingency routes for national and international cargo transportation have been expanded, due to the collapse of the bridge at kilometer XNUMX of the CA-XNUMX highway caused by heavy rains in the region.
Authorities recommended that drivers take precautions and consider the following alternative routes:
Saint Thomas of Castile or Puerto Barrios – Corinto Integrated Border Post
Route CA-9 NORTH, Puerto Barrios, Agua Caliente, Route CA-13, Corinto Integrated Border Post.
The Florido – The Hermitage
ROUTE CA-12, The Hermitage, ROUTE CA-10, Father Miguel, San Jacinto, ROUTE CA-11, Los Méndez.
Saint Thomas of Castile or Puerto Barrios – Saint Christopher
ROUTE-CA 9 NORTH, Puerto Barrios, Agua Caliente, Machaca, Valle Nuevo, Zarzal, Las Pozas, Teculutlán, El Rancho, Agua Salobrega, El Carrizo, El Bebedero, Guatemala City, ROUTE CA-1 EAST, Don Justo, Barberena, El Amaton, Guevara and San Cristobal.
It was also reported that the routes will operate in both directions and will remain open for the duration of the closure due to the collapse of the bridge.
In closing, the statement clarified to carriers that "the routes, legally authorized according to the SAT-DSI Agreement 812-2016, remain valid and can be used according to their logistical viability."
