Specialists from the Regional Technical Assistance Center for Central America, Panama and the Dominican Republic (CAPTAC-DR) concluded their visit on Friday (10.03.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX) with the expected results to establish the strengthening of the post-customs clearance audit.
Focused on that purpose, experts Héctor Garza, Marcelo Dacosta and Selvin Lemus, They settled in Panama for 5 days, meeting with staff from different departments to identify the shortcomings of the Panamanian customs system.
From this point on, they established actions on how to perform an analysis to establish a short, medium and long term pilot plan, which allows a process for the comprehensive performance of audits by different departments.
Another of the experts' recommendations was to give it monitoring the organizational structure ofthe process team that is now under the responsibility of the Technology Department, which will allow procedures to be defined with the aim of creating clear rules to provide greater transparency and certainty in foreign trade operations.
The closing ceremony was attended by ANA director Tayra Barsallo, deputy directors Juan Pablo García and Sheila Lorena Hernández, along with other directors.
Barsallo thanked the technical assistance and said that this activity provides the skills to enable institutional work to be carried out as a team and not in an isolated manner when verifying the origin of different asset situations.
CAPTAC-DR is one of the regional centers created by the International Monetary Fund to offer technical assistance, institutional strengthening and economic-financial integration to member countries. CAPTAC-DR currently covers seven areas of action: tax administration, customs administration, national accounts and public finance statistics, public financial management, financial supervision and central banking.
