Captac DR experts visit Panama to assist Customs

Experts from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Regional Technical Assistance Center for Central America, Panama and the Dominican Republic (CAPTAC-DR) will be in Panama City this week to provide technical assistance to the National Customs Administration (ANA), official sources reported.

The visit of the CAPTAC DR delegation to the ANA headquarters has the purpose of contributing to the Definition of the functions of the Processing Department and strengthening of the post-customs clearance audit, according to the Panamanian entity's statement.

To that purpose, Hector Garza, Marcelo Dacosta and Selvin Lemus They began an advisory work on Monday 6th that will culminate on Friday 10th March, which involves a series of meetings with staff from different Directorates to provide suggestions and propose guidelines for said definition.

According to ANA, experts conducted an analysis of the entity yesterday (06.03.2023) to learn about specific issues regarding its structure and operation, as well as to draw up a roadmap of the activities to be carried out during the week.

It is recalled that  CAPTAC-DR covers seven areas of action: tax administration, customs administration, public financial management, financial supervision, central banking, national accounts statistics and public finance statistics. The Centre also seeks to support its members’ efforts towards greater regional economic integration.
