Central American Customs Committee approves key regulatory changes to improve regional logistics

The Central American Customs Committee approved this Thursday (08.04.2021/XNUMX/XNUMX) two of the three pending articles to conclude the discussion of the new “Regulations on the International Land Customs Transit Regime”, and thus improve customs procedures through the facilitation, modernization and updating of legal instruments for intraregional trade.

According to information provided by the agency that supports the States in the logistical and technical process for the negotiations, the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA), the clauses were voted on by the competent customs authorities of each country in the Extraordinary meeting headed by Costa Rica, in charge of the Pro Tempore Presidency (PPT) in the first half of 2021.

In turn, SIECA detailed in the statement that In 2020, 544,480 international transit starts were made with Central American license plates, according to data from the Central American Single Declaration Platform for International Land Transit (DUCA-T).
