A Bolivian woman was caught by Chilean authorities trying to introduce 379 cocaine ovoids inside six cola drink containers.
The detection was recorded at the Quillagua outpost, 227 kilometers from Iquique (north), during the inspection of the luggage of the passengers of a bus. In this context, the customs officers found the containers and noticed an uneven weight and density, so they interviewed the passenger, who admitted to being the owner.
When the containers were opened, it was discovered that they were hiding 379 ovoids containing a total of 5 kilos 430 grams of cocaine paste.
The passenger was handed over to the police along with the drugs and her arrest was carried out at the Court of First Instance and Guarantees of Pozo Almonte. The prosecutor Hardy Torres charged the accused with drug trafficking and the judge Isabel Peña Cifuentes decided to leave her in preventive detention for the 120 days that she set as the investigation period.
The drugs were destined for the city of Antofagasta and could be worth more than $80 million (US$112) in the illicit trade.
