Starting today, the World Customs Organization Technology Conference 2026 (OMA), which will take place until January 30 in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, in Asia. This annual event brings together customs authorities, border agencies, technology providers, companies, international organizations, and global trade experts.
The 2026 edition is held under the motto"Customs agility in a complex world: securing and facilitating trade through innovation," and will explore how the global customs community can adapt with agility to change, leverage innovation to strengthen security and protect borders and supply chains, while also driving trade facilitation.
Each day will be dedicated to a strategic focus:
- Day 1 (28/01): Border security for safer trade.
- Day 2 (29/01): Facilitating trade through digital solutions.
- Day 3 (30/01): Innovation for the future of customs.
La opening session will be in charge of Ian Saunders, Secretary General of the WCO, accompanied by prominent international panelists: Rashed Al Mansoori, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Marion Jansen and Pierre-Antoine Champin. The conference will discuss how advanced technologies, data analysis, and collaboration with various partners can strengthen border protection, streamline trade processes, and shape the future of customs management in an increasingly complex global environment.
The event will feature simultaneous interpretation in English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese.
For reference, the Technology Conference 2024 was held in the Americas region, in the vibrant city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, reaffirming its international character.
