With more than 1.500 participants of over 100 countriesThe World Customs Organization (WCO) Technology Conference and Exhibition 2026 opened today (28.01.2026), as announced. previously reported, his first day of activities in Abu Dhabi, focused on “Border security for safer trade”.

According to official WCO information, the inauguration The opening session was led by Secretary-General Ian Saunders, who emphasized the importance of customs efficiency, reliable collaboration, and modern standards to ensure secure borders and facilitate legitimate trade. The inaugural session featured Rashed Al Mansoori (Abu Dhabi), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi (Nigeria), Marion Jansen (OECD), and Pierre-Antoine Champin (W3C), who discussed the challenges of global trade and the need for resilient and secure supply chains.

During the day, the following were presented: advanced technological solutionsincluding intelligent X-ray systems, non-intrusive inspection, artificial intelligence applied to risk management, data analytics for real-time decision making, and customs digitization and interoperability tools.

The Technology Exhibition, with more than 60 stands, It allowed delegates to learn about innovations that support the modernization of Customs and promote public-private cooperation to implement practical solutions that impact the security and efficiency of global trade.

The day ended with a gala dinner hosted by UAE Customs, bringing together international delegates in a networking space.

According to the official WCO agenda, tomorrow the second day will be dedicated to “Trade facilitation through digital solutions”, while the third day will focus on “Innovation for the future of customs”.
