China reduces tariffs on Argentine forestry products

-

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Nation reported that the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of China arranged New import tariffs on wood products with reductions of up to 4%, a situation that can stimulate local production.

The new regulations of the Asian country apply additional tariff reductions for several wood products, and extend most of the temporary reductions defined for 2020, said the ministry led by Luis Basterra.

The decision is aimed at reducing prices and stimulating consumer spending on consumer products and some raw materials for their production, of which 134 correspond to agro-industrial products of which China has little production or is a net importer.

The measure arose from bilateral dialogue and exchange promoted by the national agricultural portfolio, with the aim of continuing to open markets and taking advantage of the conditions of the international context for the benefit of regional economies, as is the case of the forestry sector, the ministry said.

"China's new tariff decisions represent a significant benefit for the Argentine forestry industry and a strong incentive to continue opening trade avenues in one of the nerve centers of the Asian continent," said Daniel Maradei, national director of Forest Industry.

Some of the forest products highlighted by the measure are: Charcoal (except bamboo), wood wool and flour, veneer and plywood sheets, among many others.
