The project will benefit more than 265 residents of the provincial capital and neighboring cities by improving the early detection of crimes on public roads and the speed of response by security forces.

The Ministry of Finance of the Nation, the province of Jujuy and BBVA Hong Kong signed a guarantee agreement for a US$24 million line of credit with sovereign guarantee, for the implementation of the Jujuy Safe and Interconnected Comprehensive Project.

The project will improve the security of the inhabitants of the city of San Salvador de Jujuy, providing it with a monitoring and control system using security cameras and a 911 telephone exchange mounted on a telecommunications infrastructure that will be acquired and installed by the company ZTE.

This financial operation will allow the implementation of a state-of-the-art security service that involves the purchase of 600 cameras and the acquisition of a video surveillance system with the deployment of its own data network with fiber optics in the provincial capital.

In this regard, the installation of recorders and an IP telephone and Internet network is planned for the connectivity of 310 points such as schools, hospitals, health centres and police stations, with a monitoring centre that will generate new specialized jobs. The implementation and execution of the project will be the responsibility of the provincial Ministry of Security.

The meeting was attended by the Governor of Jujuy, Gerardo Morales; the Undersecretary of International Financial Relations of the Ministry of Finance, Martín Soto; and the Head of Structured Financing of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA (BBVA), Hong Kong branch, Wendy Nian.

This agreement marks a milestone in the history of Chinese presence in the country, as it is BBVA Hong Kong's first financing operation and ZTE's first comprehensive project in Argentina.
