Chilean Customs seized 23,4 kilos of cocaine, which were found in the structure of a container loaded with blueberries.
Service Valparaíso Customs seized 23,4 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride, which were found in a container loaded with blueberries which was being reviewed in the Logistics Support Extension Zone (ZEAL) on La Pólvora road, the statement said.
Following the risk profile alert, officials inspected the container from southern Chile, with destination Europe.
The use of scanner and the help of the canine duo allowed to determine where the merchandise was hidden.

This allowed officials to notice the presence of 21 packages which were subjected to field tests to confirm the composition of the substance found.
The particle analyzer tested positive for cocaine hydrochloride, with a total weight of 23.404 grams, the Chilean media reported.

The director of the Valparaíso Customs Office, Myriam Gutiérrez, said that “this successful discovery is the result of the daily work of our officials, in tasks inherent to customs work, such as risk analysis and field work. I think it is very important to highlight the commitment of our staff to the protection and assurance of the foreign trade logistics chain.".
The procedure was brought to the attention of the prosecutor on duty, who decided to hand over the seized substance to the Investigative Police (PDI) in chain of custody, to continue with the corresponding investigation.

During the year 2017. the Chilean Customs managed to seize more than 3 tons of drugs such as cocaine hydrochloride and marijuana, which were valued at more than 8 billion pesos.
The head of the Drugs Department, Patricio González, said that "the figures are the result of a permanent Customs policy regarding the control of drug trafficking, which maintains a proactive attitude and a state of alert in all customs offices in the national territory regarding emerging and repetitive modus operandi."
