Foreign Ministers Jorge Faurie and Heraldo Muñoz will sign a Free Trade Agreement in Buenos Aires, the purpose of which is to promote investments and the exchange of goods and services, and will allow the entry of Argentine products at zero rates to countries with which Chile has similar agreements.
The signing of the treaty will take place at 12 noon at the San Martín Palace, headquarters of the Foreign Ministry, and will also include the participation of the Chilean ambassador in Buenos Aires, José Viera Gallo, and Paulina Nazal Aranda, director of Economic Relations of the Chilean Foreign Ministry, reported the Chilean diplomatic headquarters in Buenos Aires.
"There is a long way to go, especially in the possibility of Argentine companies partnering with Chilean companies and being able to process food products in Chile, add value to them and export them with zero tariffs to the 65 countries with which Chile has a trade agreement.", said Viera Gallo on Wednesday (01.11.2017)
Currently, bilateral trade relations are governed by the Economic Complementation Agreement (ACE) 35 with Mercosur, in force since 1996.
El The agreement to be signed will be a complement to what was agreed in ACE 35, since aleading to the modernization of the relationship, within a framework of greater legal certainty for commercial operators of both countries.
As a novelty of the new treaty, communications between one side and the other of the Andes mountain range will be exempt from roaming service, defined as "an expensive service" by the Chilean authorities.
Furthermore, the most notable benefit of the FTA for local trade will be the possibility of placing, through processing in Chilean territory, agro-industrial products that will have the possibility of being placed at a "zero rate" in the international markets with which Chile has free trade agreements.
