The national government authorized this Thursday Pan American Energy LLC (PAE) to export natural gas to the Chilean company Colbún SA for up to 275,6 million cubic meters of the Neuquina Basin, according to the Resolution 61 / 2018 published in the Official Gazette.
The decision comes two days after Argentina resumed exporting gas to its neighbour after a 12-year suspension. Sales would come mostly from the Patagonian province of Neuquén, especially from the Vaca Muerta unconventional hydrocarbon field.
according to standard PAE will be able to export to Colbún "a maximum volume of 1.300.000 cubic meters per day of natural gas of 9.300 kilocalories per cubic meter until 06:00 hours on May 1, 2019", or until a total maximum quantity of 275.600.000 cubic meters of natural gas of the same kilocalorie value is reached, according to the resolution.
PAE, controlled by British firm BP, was also authorized to export surplus natural gas, which will be counted as part of the total volume allowed, the ministry said, adding that shipments "may be interrupted in order to guarantee the security of supply to the domestic market."
Pan American Energy must report monthly to the Argentine Government the monthly exported volumes, according to the resolution, which also establishes that the authorization granted to PAE will automatically expire if no sale is registered within the next 45 days.
