Incentives for non-conventional gas in Neuquén are extended

-

The Argentine government has taken another step towards increasing the production of unconventional natural gas in the Vaca Muerta formation in Neuquén, by recognizing differential prices for concessions that are already in the "development stage", in addition to those that are still in the "pilot" phase.

La Resolution E-419 on Energy and Mining He justified the expansion of the program by pointing out that "It is also of interest to the national government"the increase in production from hydrocarbon exploitation concessions from non-conventional reservoirs"which are already in the development stage".

The German company Wintershall, the American company ExxonMobil, the Malaysian company Petronas and the Anglo-Dutch company Shell (the latter two together with YPF) are currently developing pilot plans of between 7 and 30 wells with investments ranging from US$100 million to US$300 million.

The government incentive was originally intended to accelerate the development stages over a period of up to 35 years, during which an investment of between US$7.000 billion and US$10.000 billion is required, according to calculations by the Neuquén provincial government.
