Uruguayan exports continued to grow in October

-

The Uruguay XXI Institute presented its monthly foreign trade report on Wednesday (01.11.2017).

It indicates that export applications for Uruguay totaled 744 million dollars in October, including free trade zones, which represents a 21,3% growth compared to October 2016.

The product with the greatest positive impact in the month was the cellulose, followed by wood, dairy products and soybeans.

It is also noted that beverage concentrate and beef had negative impacts on October exports.

In the first ten months of the year, Uruguayan exports registered a growth of 9,8%, totalling 7.607 billion dollars.

This increase confirms the “improved performance of the export sector during 2017 in the year-on-year comparison.”

"The exceptional production levels of soybeans this year have placed the oilseed as the second most exported product so far this year, and as the one with the greatest impact on the year-on-year increase in exports," Uruguay XXI notes in its report.

On the other hand, it is assured that China is Uruguay's main trading partner.

“China showed the greatest positive impact on Uruguayan exports in the month of October, with a 68% increase compared to the same month in 2016," it says.

The amount exported to this destination reached 106 million dollars. Beef was the main exported product with a 57% share of the amount.

In the year to date, China was the main destination for exports, reaching 1,494 million dollars, with a share of 26% and a large increase of 2016% compared to 53.

The products with the greatest impact on accumulated exports were soybeans, beef and wood.
