Since December 15, members of the Logistics Business Council (COEL) have access to the first phase of the project which will allow them to use virtual seals exclusively for land transshipment cargo, according to the National Customs Authority of Panama (ANA).
With this procedure, Customs streamlines, improves, facilitates, creates opportunities and guarantees for the shipping sector and its clients, since it will be possible to perform a risk analysis, control and traceability of the cargo, which will allow for a measurement of improvements in the systems.
This measure is part of the work that COEL has developed together with Customs in the search for the facilitation mechanisms for transshipment cargo in light of the environmental phenomenon affecting the Panama Canal.
During his explanation the Customs head Tayra Barsallo, noted that the entity has provided inspectors with smart devices with quick response (QR) codes and includes the enabling of a new numerical range exclusively for virtual seals that implements the procedure for the transfer of non-nationalized merchandise in the transshipment regime within the territory of the Republic of Panama.
In this first phase of the sale of virtual precincts, those interested must continue to purchase at the cash registers in the Northern and Eastern regional zones. It is expected that the procedure will be available for online payment in February.
