Customs detects irregularities in the export of raisins to Canada

-

The General Directorate of Customs (DGA) reported this Thursday (17.08.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX) that it detected irregularities with a load of 24 tons of raisins that a company wanted to export from Mendoza to Canada through triangulation with a front company in the United States.

Customs personnel discovered that the value of the goods entering the country of destination differed from that declared on the export invoice. The firm reported a price lower than the real one in order not to settle the total amount of foreign currency in Argentina.

"The firm assured that the sale of the 24 tons had been at USD 28.800 when the real value of the total The load was worth USD 50.400", said Customs, noting that "the company must pay a fine of $4.344.516."

The merchandise traveled directly to Canada and did not present any tangible added value provided by the American intermediaries to justify the re-invoicing prices.

The DGA finally announced that it had filed a complaint with the courts for violating Article 954 of the Customs Code. However, the cargo was released under the guarantee regime provided for in Article 453 of the Customs Code, after requiring payment of a surety bond.
