US President Donald Trump on Tuesday (4) praised the “excellent” work of Argentine President Mauricio Macri in Argentina’s current “very difficult economic situation,” while also showing his support for the South American country’s request to speed up the disbursement of its IMF loan.
"President Macri is doing an excellent job in this very difficult economic and financial situation."Trump said in a statement, after reporting that he had spoken this morning with the Argentine president.
Trump stressed his support for Argentina's "commitment" to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to "address the country's current economic challenges."
The US president's note comes at the same time that Argentine Finance Minister Nicolás Dujovne is in Washington to try to renegotiate the financial agreement signed with the institution headed by Christine Lagarde last June.
Macri indicated last week that he had asked the The IMF is urging Argentina to speed up the collection of the new disbursement of the $50.000 billion loan granted to the country in June, of which Argentina has so far been able to use $15.000 billion.
