The union of oil workers and cotton ginners announced that starting tomorrow the workers it represents will begin a nationwide strike in protest against the alleged delay by the Ministry of Labor in validating the latest part in the sector, which reached almost 32 percent.
"The totally arbitrary refusal of the Ministry of Labor of the Nation to issue the certification of the elected authorities in our Federation, and the delay in the approval of our last oil collective bargaining agreement generated the rejection of the anti-union actions of the labor portfolio. Therefore, starting tomorrow Thursday at 18 p.m., we will begin a national strike."l", announced the Federation of Workers of the Oilseed Industrial Complex, Cotton Ginners and Related Workers of the Argentine Republic (FTCIOD and ARA).
The FTCIOD and ARA decided to start the strike after assemblies held throughout the country. The assemblies of the oil workers and cotton ginners were emphatic in their “rejection of the anti-union actions of the labour ministry” and launched the national strike.
Daniel Yofra, the union's general secretary, stressed that "it is in defense of our workers' organizations, the health of our families, the dignity of the minimum, living and mobile wage, union democracy and each of our rights."
