The Director General of Customs, Guillermo Michel, announced on Tuesday afternoon (15.11.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX) that theSMEs will be able to bring spare parts worth USD 3 for up to 5 vessels per year under the Courier Regime.
The measure was announced within the framework of the 3rd Industrial Congress of the National Consensus on Labor and Production, Organized by Argentine SME Industrialists (IPA).
Michel explained on that occasion that this type of decision in favor of SMEs can be taken due to the attack on irregularities in imports and exports that seeks to strengthen reserves and ensure that dollars are used for production.
"Irregularities in the overbilling of imports and the non-settlement of foreign currency from exports generate huge losses and we are fighting them", the official said. Michel understood that the irregularities in imports and exports "are aimed at strengthening the exchange rate gap. We have taken measures to go in the opposite direction.
IPA head Daniel Rosato thanked Michel for his presence at the congress and described the official's work as "historic" in attacking illegal imports to defend Argentine foreign currency and labor, while allowing dollars to be used to import the products necessary for production.
It is recalled that through General Resolution 5260/2022 of September 23, the Federal Public Revenue Administration (AFIP) reduced from USD 3000 to USD 1000 the maximum amount that Argentines could spend when importing private merchandise into the country through the "door-to-door" regime.
According to the AFIP, the measure was a result of the "strengthening of control and inspection actions carried out in the different import regimes”, Among these is the importation by couriers, since “irregularities were detected that led to infringement and/or criminal complaints.”
These facts, for the tax authority, showed "the need to adopt measures aimed at the proper protection of tax revenues.”
