The Honduran Customs Administration, together with the United States Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), carried out the Webinar “Advance Declaration in the Framework of Deep Integration between Honduras and Guatemala”.

The activity took place on Thursday (11.02.2021) to coordinate mechanisms between the aforementioned countries, which contribute to the promotion of the circulation of goods and the facilitation of legitimate trade.

In the opening, José Alejandro Ayala, National Manager of Technical Management and Customs Regulations of the Customs Administration, stressed that "the purpose of the advance declaration is to simplify customs clearance operations to reduce time. The Central American Strategy involves several pillars, among them is this mechanism which will be implemented first in the Integrated Pass of Corinto.”

La Lizanka Guevara, Executive Director of AmCham, for his part, stressed: “The measure will speed up traceability in the process of clearing goods. To this end, the processes of capturing, loading data, transmitting information and paying tax obligations will be carried out in advance in a timely manner, facilitating trade and economic development in both countries.”

During the event, experts discussed the legal aspect, objectives, scope and main actors, as well as the advantages.

With the implementation of the advance declaration between Honduras and Guatemala, the following will be achieved: substantial benefits in the reduction of time and costs, the increase in trade flows and competitiveness between economic operators, perfecting intraregional free trade.
