Potatoes: AFIP reported $1,2 million tax evasion

The Federal Public Revenue Administration (AFIP) has reported a major potato producer from the city of Balcarce, province of Buenos Aires, for evading income tax by failing to declare income of more than 3.600.000 pesos.

Misleading Affidavit

The scheme consisted of filing a misleading Income Tax return for the 2016 fiscal year, which determined a balance in favor of the taxpayer of $12.000 pesos.

The producer deHe clarified a yield per hectare that does not correspond to the average obtained in the region. AFurthermore, there is no relationship between the prices declared for each bag of potatoes and those determined by the Central Market of Buenos Aires.

According to the data submitted by the taxpayer, the harvest balance for that period was 23 tons per hectare. However, the AFIP detected differences that brought the production to 39 tons per hectare. This discrepancy resulted in omitted income of more than 3.600.000 pesos.
