Panama inaugurated (01.06.2023/XNUMX/XNUMX) its new Customs Video Surveillance Center, a computer platform that will maximize information analysis, monitoring and risk management in order to provide security for cargo transit, official sources reported.
The center will be a focal point in which centralize international transits and transfers , the part of the project "“Invisible Shield”It is equipped with a camera management system, which brings together all the images from customs facilities and checkpoints that allow monitoring the clearance of goods, where verification will be carried out through scanners, according to the National Customs Administration.
This new customs surveillance unit will allow for greater monitoring of loads in the main customs centers of Guabalá, Divisa, Tocumen, Guabito, Paso Canoas, Colon Free Zone, Puerto Manzanillo, Colon Container Terminal, Port of Cristobal, Port of Balboa, Port PSA, Chiquita Brand, Coco Solito, Howard and Chepo.
La Head of Customs, Tayra Barsallo, noted that this project establishes coordinated strategies in order to find the necessary balance to apply the required security controls without affecting the facilitation of legitimate trade, and with the installation of the Video Surveillance Center, part of its goals are met.
The project was funded by a donation from the British government and includes the IT platform, furniture, adaptations, technological equipment and training.
