In this regard, the Argentine minister pointed out that the bloc made up of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay not only has to seek contact with countries or regions with consolidated markets and a high GDP per capita, but also has to set its sights on Africa, Asia and Central America.
"(These are regions) that are beginning to emerge with impressive dynamism in the consumption of the products that we can offer them," added the Argentine foreign minister.
Faurie said that Mercosur has to "push much harder" for dialogue with the Pacific Alliance -formed by Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru-.
"Mercosur has to make an effort to get out of its comfort zone, because our competitors already have a dense network of agreements and, therefore, we compete on difficult terms," he stressed.
This Tuesday, following the arrival at the Mercosur headquarters of the presidents of Argentina, Mauricio Macri; Brazil, Michel Temer; Paraguay, Mario Abdo Benítez, and Uruguay, Tabaré Vázquez, the summit of presidents of Mercosur and associated states will begin.
