Argentina has achieved a 100% discount on the tariff charge imposed on each full container unit, whether 20 or 40 feet, that arrives at the Port Support Zone (ZAP), as well as the elimination of the charge for seal control for containers destined for export and import from the ports of Buenos Aires, the Secretariat of Agroindustry reported.
La Resolution 131/2018 dated October 1, finishes eliminating the charge for the entry of containers in the Port Support Zone (ZAP), since in previous measures it had been possible to lower it from US$16 to US$10, the latter amount being the one that was currently being charged, so in "Article 1" of the aforementioned resolution it is stated removes 100% of the charge starting in October.
This measure is accompanied by the one taken in the Resolution 136/2018 dated October 2, in which it is explained in one of its paragraphs that "the placement of a new seal would have as its purpose - in the event of an accident - to delimit the corresponding responsibilities of both the shipping line and the operator, for which reason its installation must be the responsibility of the Terminals and/or shipping lines" in this way it is established that The charge, which was around US$15, for the seal, either for the control or for the placement of a new one, should not be imposed by the terminals..
"This set of measures that the National Government has been taking means an effective reduction in port logistics costs that affects not only the agroindustry but also all exports," he said. Undersecretary of Agricultural Markets, Jesús Silveyra.
Other measures
It should be remembered that the Undersecretariat of Agricultural Markets has been supporting a set of actions in order to reduce port costs, such as the TAP elimination in 2016; The Unification of sweeping and cleaning rates in 2017; and the Elimination of the HC (High Cube) surcharge in 2018.
In this way, it was possible to reduce from 2015 to date, about a 60% of operating costs for containers in the port of Buenos Aires.
