Exports of goods from Uruguay fell by 14% in March compared to the same month in 2023 and totaled USD 893 million dollars, according to the monthly report of the Uruguay XXI foreign trade promotion institute.
The report states that "the negative evolution of beef, rapeseed and carinata and rice sales were relevant" in explaining such a monthly contraction.
Regarding the Main exported products, the following is highlighted: cellulose with an increase of 9%, meaning a foreign exchange income of USD 182 million.
Despite the sharp year-on-year drop (-27%), the beef ranked second, reporting USD 156 million, according to the report that considers export requests and includes free trade zones.
Exports of wheat ranked third. These assets performed positively, with an increase of 202% compared to February 2023, reaching a total of USD 70 million.

Main destinations
As regards the acquisition of such assets, Brazil It was Uruguay's largest market, capturing 21% of its exports; while China It was the second destination, with 13% of purchases; it is followed by United States with 8%; European Union with 8%; and Argentina with 7%.
