The Fresh fruit exports grew by 6% in the first ten months of the year compared to the same period in 2019, with a total volume of around 800.000 tons, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries reported on Tuesday (10.11.2020).
In this way, between January and October of this year Argentina shipped 797.220 tons of citrus, seed fruits and grapes, among others, compared to 751.871,6 tons in the same period last year according to data collected by the National Service for Food Health and Quality (Senasa).
"This achievement is the result of a combination of forces, between Argentine producers who do not give up and the tireless work of Senasa, which had to adapt its tasks and adjust controls to continue certifying exports from the agro-food and agro-industrial complex in this pandemic framework," said the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Luis Basterra.
Of the total fresh fruit exported, 321.278 tons were pears; 247.985 tons were fresh lemons; 98.446 tons were apples; 73.956 tons were oranges; and 32.767 tons were mandarins.
Its main markets were countries of the European Union; la Russian Federation y United States, among others.
Shipments of blueberries, grapes, kiwi, pomegranates and cherries, among other fresh fruits, were also recorded.
Compared to the same period in 2019, pear exports have grown by 11%, lemons by 6%, and apples by 5%, among others.
The main destinations for the Argentine pear were: Brazil, 91.794 tons; Russia, 85071 tons; United States, 38294 tons; Italy, 25.367 tons.
Fresh lemon The main markets were Russia, 57.932 tonnes; the United States, 33.536 tonnes; the Netherlands, 31.829 tonnes; and Spain, 25.171 tonnes.
Shipments of oranges Their first markets were Paraguay, 21.841 tons; the Netherlands, 13.284 tons; Russia, 9.772 tons; Spain, 6.880 tons; and Iraq, 2.678 tons.
