CAC calls on Argentina to sign the MERCOSUR – European Union agreement

-

The Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Services (CAC) publicly called on Tuesday (05.11.2023) for the National Government, within the framework of the MERCOSUR summit to be held this week in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to proceed with the signing of the MERCOSUR – European Union treaty.

In a statement, the entity reaffirms "the position expressed on more than one occasion, both individually and within the framework of the Council of Chambers of Commerce of MERCOSUR, regarding the convenience of the country adhering to the agreement under consideration, given the potential that this would have to stimulate foreign trade and investment flows, thus promoting the economic and social development of the nations involved."

Although the CAC understands that the treaty in question "may have points that do not fully satisfy the claims of our country, it considers that its positive aspects are significantly greater than its possible shortcomings, so that its signature would result in a clear benefit for the national economy."

In this regard, the Entity urges the outgoing National Government to "take into account the position of the incoming authorities, who have expressed their support for the country signing the aforementioned agreement."
