Argentina's trade balance reached a surplus of US$1537 million in July, which is US$57 million more than the same period in 2020, according to INDEC data.

The result is explained because the exports They had a rise of 47,1 percent to reach the 7252 million, due to an increase in prices of 33,3% and quantities of 9,3%. The very favourable international price situation determined the good outlook for foreign trade.

All items increased: manufactures of industrial origin (MOI), 78,7% thanks to higher sales of vehicles, chemical products and mining products; primary products (PP), 54,4%, where the sale of corn; manufactures of agricultural origin (MOA), 29,7%, in this area the impact was Soybean and derivatives placements; and fuels and energy (CyE), 15,6%.

On the side of the imports, the total of 5715 million involved an annual advance of 65,6 percent, as a result of a 35,1% increase in quantities and a 22,6% increase in prices. Purchases of inputs and capital goods stood out, as did the import of energy sources such as liquefied natural gas and diesel.

As for the purchase of capital goods, they grew by 20,7%, while the acquisition of inputs did so by 72,3 percent. Parts and accessories for capital goods grew by 101,2% and consumer goods, by 25,2%. Meanwhile, the import of motor vehicles advanced by 29,4% and the rest, by 36,8%, mainly due to the increase in goods shipped by postal services (Couriers).

In July, the main export destinations Argentina's exports were: Brazil, China, the Netherlands, Chile, the United States, Vietnam, India, Spain, Egypt and the Republic of Korea, in that order, which together accounted for 54,7% of total foreign sales.

For their part, the ten Main countries of origin of imports were: Brazil, China, the United States, Paraguay, Germany, Qatar, Thailand, France, India and Mexico and represented 70,1% of total foreign purchases.

With these figures, between January and JulyArgentina's trade surplus is USD 8.310 billion versus USD 9.793 billion in the same months of 2020. (INDEC technical report)
