Customs opens new dog training centers in the north and south of the country

-

A new dog training center opened in the Chubut town of Comodoro Rivadavia (south) joins the one recently opened in Salta (north), the National Customs Directorate reported on Monday (28.11.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX).

With this strategic initiative, the organization seeks to deepen the federalization of the program it has in the AMBA (metropolitan area of Buenos Aires), distinguished by the World Customs Organization as a Regional Center for Canine Training for all of South America.

About, Guillermo Michel, Director General of Customs, he said: “We do not believe in a concentrated Customs: we want the guides to be able to train closer to the borders, which is where a large part of the teams later carry out their functions.”

In this context, the new Regional Center for Dog Training and Instruction in the Patagonian Region Will be in the port of Comodoro Rivadavia, Chubut, on a 1500 m2 plot.

For the teams of the Customs of Río Grande and Ushuaia it will be extremely advantageous to have a closer center, since the difficulties inherent in mobility between the Province of Tierra del Fuego and mainland Argentina can be stressful for dogs. The Customs has already made progress with the purchase of nine additional dogs to strengthen customs in the south of the country, according to the statement.

On the other hand, they are ten dogs which are currently being prepared in the new Salta Regional Dog Training and Instruction Center, recently visited by Michel.

Once the training is completed, each of them will become part of a team (that is, a team formed with a customs agent in charge of guiding them and ensuring their well-being) to control the entry of foreign currency and prohibited narcotics at border crossings with Chile and Bolivia.

Note that the training center that the Customs has in Boulogne, Province of Buenos Aires., was distinguished this year by the World Customs Organization (OMA), to train guides and dogs from all over South America - there are only 18 Regional Dog Training Centers accredited by the OMA in the whole world and the one in Buenos Aires is one.

In fact, this week, a customs dog trained there discovered more than 120 thousand dollars hidden in a car at the Buquebus terminal in Buenos Aires.
