Customs advances with the administrative simplification of import clearance

-

With the aim of streamlining procedures and reducing customs clearance times, the General Directorate of Customs (DGA) announced today (14.05.2025) another step in the administrative simplification process by eliminating various internal regulations that governed the participation of sectoral entities in the physical inspection of imported goods.

In DGA Resolution 17/2025, published in the Official Gazette, were repealed now nine normative texts: DGA Resolutions Nos. 4/97, 57/01 and 3/03, DOA Resolutions Nos. 20/04 and 30/05, DAE Resolution No. 134/07 and DGA General Instructions Nos. 11/99, 4/00 and 38/01. These regulations had established a system in which chambers and sector associations intervened as observers in the verification of imports through the red channel, but the low participation and additional costs associated with the system led to its elimination.

This measure is in addition to General Resolution No. 5693 of the May 7th 2025, which also repealed several previous resolutions related to the sectoral participation system for the verification of imported goods. Both actions seek to "eliminate operational delays and losses" in the merchandise clearance process, aligning with the goal of streamlining customs procedures.

Additionally, In October 2024, General Resolution No. 5586 It had already repealed other regulations related to this same system. The measures seek to "strengthen agile and efficient public management," while ensuring the traceability of import operations without compromising customs controls, according to official authorities.
