Authorities of the Deep Integration process between Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador approved the use of the Advance Declaration for the trade of goods originating in the Central American region (DUCA-F) that is carried out through the Border posts San Cristobal-San Cristobal, New Valley-Las Chinamas and La Ermita-Anguiatu, SIECA reported.
According to the technical body, the Ministerial Instance meeting was held virtually on Friday (07.07.2023) in order to review and approve this improvement in the customs procedures at the border of El Salvador and Guatemala.
Although it did not confirm the date from which it will be mandatory, SIECA stated that the implementation of the Advance Declaration will reduce service times and operating costs, generating greater competitiveness and facilitating trade.
In detail, the benefits are the following:
- Decongestion of cargo transport at both borders;
- Decreased dispatch times;
- Reduction of logistics operating costs;
- Distribute products to the market more quickly to benefit the population.
The use of the Advance Declaration of Goods at border posts, highlighted at the beginning, will replicate the experience implemented at the Pedro de Alvarado – La Hachadura Border Post (Guatemala-El Salvador) from 2022.
It is worth remembering that the Advance Declaration of Goods is a joint initiative between Customs Administrations, supported by the Foreign Trade Single Windows and the Ministries of Economy of the Central American countries, within the framework of the Deep Integration Process of the Customs Union.SIECA News)
