In the framework of the anniversary of the Peruvian Customs, the authorities of Guatemala and Peru managed to sign this Friday (01.10.2021) a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) of their Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) programs, SUNAT reported through the social network Twitter.
The signing of the agreement was carried out by Superintendent of the Tax Administration of Guatemala, Marco Livio Díaz Reyes, and the Deputy National Superintendent of Customs of Peru, Marilú Llerena AybarThe Customs Superintendent, Werner Ovalle, was also present.
It is worth remembering that the AEO was adopted in 2005 by the World Customs Organization (WCO), under the Framework of Standards to Facilitate and Secure Trade (SAFE Framework), with the purpose of improving and strengthening security in the international supply chain, through compliance with security requirements that guarantee reliability in the companies included in said program.
With the signing of this MRA, companies authorized by the Superintendency of Tax Administration in Guatemala (SAT-G) and certified by the customs administration of the National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration (SUNAT) of Peru will be able to benefit from the benefits established in the program, related to more agile trade procedures, by being recognized as safe customs users before the OAS authorities of both countries.
Therefore, Guatemalan and Peruvian companies that have AEO status enjoy more opportunities to facilitate their import and export processes, which affects their negotiations, positively impacting the entire logistics chain that includes raw material suppliers, freight transporters, warehousing services, etc.
With the signing of the Mutual Recognition Agreement, the customs authorities of Guatemala and Peru expressed their satisfaction at achieving this new goal to provide greater benefits to their AEO companies, which strengthens trade ties and represents a link to reinforce the competitiveness of products in both countries.
