Honduran customs authorities recommended this Saturday (02.10.2021) the use of electronic transmission of the Advance Declaration of Goods between Honduras and Guatemala, within the framework of the Deep Integration Process of both countries and in compliance with the Central American Strategy for Trade Facilitation and Competitiveness with an Emphasis on Coordinated Border Management.
The statement reaffirms the advantages of applying this Advance Declaration that has already been implemented binationally in the three Integrated Border Posts: El Florido, Agua Caliente (since June 2021) and Corinto (since October 2020).
The official text highlights the streamlining of the passage of means of transport, as well as the possibility of avoiding delays in customs clearance, long queues, fuel consumption expenses, parking costs and deterioration or loss of perishable goods.
Authorities warn that “exporters They must send the means of transport to the integrated border posts once they have received a message from Guatemalan Customs that the goods have complied with their tax and non-tax obligations.”
On the other hand, they also indicate that “imports from Guatemala or any other requested customs regime must comply, prior to the arrival of the means of transport at any of the authorized integrated border posts, with the transmission of the Advance Declaration with the tax and non-tax obligations that the regime imposes."
About the posts integrated border crossings, It is worth remembering that they are operational El Florido (hours: Monday to Sunday from 6 am to 6 pm) and Corinto (new hours: Monday to Sunday from 5 am to 10 pm). Meanwhile, the Agua Caliente pass is temporarily closed (since September 20 for 60 days) due to construction work to improve the infrastructure.
