The Superintendency of Tax Administration (SAT) of Guatemala presented on Friday (14.05.2021/XNUMX/XNUMX) the initiative to improve port procedures for the arrival and departure of vessels, which will be applied in the main ports of the country.
The statement specifies that such a project presented by SAT is supported by the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation and the United States Agency for International Development.l, also known by its acronym in English, USAID.
The operational improvements of this essential part of the logistics-production chain have the objective of simplify, standardize and digitalize the procedures and documents for the arrival and departure of commercial tourist vessels in the country's main ports, SAT points out.
“Waiting times for vessels will be reduced, the start of operations will be expedited, paper documents will be eliminated and better use will be made of the information obtained in the process,” explains the entity in charge of tax collection in Guatemala.
The event was attended by the head of SAT, Marco Livio Díaz; the Vice Minister, Edith Flores; the Deputy Director of USAID, Greg Howell; the Director of the Global Alliance, Philippe Isler; and the Superintendent of Customs, Werner Ovalle.
