Interview with Gabriel Roussel. A luxury host in Iguazu

-

How are you perceiving 2013 at the Sheraton Iguazú?

In general, there is a general slowdown in the entire sector with less foreign tourism in all segments and this directly affects occupancy and income. The US market is slowly starting to recover with a 5% improvement over last year, while some European countries are still in decline.

What are your expectations for results at the end of the year?

Due to the drop in demand and the rise in costs that we have been maintaining for more than a year now, expectations are a little lower than in our last forecast, especially for the first months of the year. The second half of the year looks a little better in the books and we hope that this projection can be consolidated in order to get a little closer to our business objectives.

What percentage of demand for the Sheraton Iguazú is corporate and what percentage is tourism?

87% is leisure tourism and the other 13% is corporate. However, it should be noted that last year, corporate demand was 5%, which means that we have almost tripled our penetration in this market, making companies see us as a great place to hold their meetings and accommodate their representatives.

What action have you undertaken during your management that has been innovative, generating well-being for people, your employees, guests and/or the community?

We have made innovative changes in matters of environmental care, efficiency in our systems, we continue to support the community where we see we have possibilities and we have created, together with other tourism companies, the Iguazú Convention Bureau that provides visibility and work for the entire community and the Province.

What mistakes did you make and do you take into account when undertaking a new action?

I think that one of the biggest problems to be solved is the ability of all stakeholders to react and follow up when previously defined tasks or actions are scheduled. This is a point that I have been taking into account lately when scheduling tasks.

Who is Gabriel Roussel? (How does he define himself)

I could say that he is a perfectionist and anxious to achieve results, which is why some additional grey hairs are appearing!!!

What is your place in the world? (not country)

There are many places to be, but without a doubt the best place is where loved ones are and one can share moments with them.
