By Provision 6/2023, the General Directorate of Customs (DGA) created the “Gualeguaychú Customs Museum” which will bear the name “Tomas de Rocamora Historical Hall"and will operate in the former home of the head of the administration.
The initiative, in this century-old building in the city of Entre Ríos, is to "gather, preserve, guard and exhibit to the public, in an appropriate manner, the relics and objects from the customs' past, in order to disseminate to the community the control and oversight functions carried out by the Argentine Customs - from its beginnings to the present - and the importance they represent for our society," the DGA stated in the regulations.
And he explained the legacy of Rocamora:“In 1783, Tomás de Rocamora founded the city of Gualeguaychú based on a strategic vision of the territory and the needs of the population, prioritizing the growth of trade through its own port, and education through the creation of various teaching and cultural centers.”
The Gualeguaychú Customs Museum is located between Alem and Del Valle streets. Its assets will consist of all tangible and intangible assets within its jurisdiction and those transferred by other customs offices in the interior, the DGA determined.
