In November, the trade balance shows a surplus of USD 397 million

The National Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC) announced that Argentina's trade surplus in November was USD 397 million, the lowest figure of 2021.

Thus, Exports totaled USD 6.164 million, with a year-on-year increase of 37%, while the Imports reached USD 5.767 million, and an improvement of 40,1% compared to the same month last year.

According to INDEC, Exports fell by 5,0%, and the trend-cycle, 1,7%, compared to October 2021. All items increased: primary products (PP), 75,2%; manufactures of industrial origin (MOI), 59,7%; fuels and energy (CyE), 25,3%; and manufactures of agricultural origin (MOA), 13,5%.

 Particularly notable were the increases in shipments of cereals (USD 532 million), land transport material (USD 388 million) and chemical and related products (USD 118 million).

As for imports, they remained at levels similar to those observed in the second half of the year. All economic uses registered positive variations, except passenger motor vehicles (VA), which fell by 20,6%. Capital goods (BK) increased by 19,1%; intermediate goods (BI), 53,4%; fuels and lubricants (CyL), 217,1%; parts and accessories for capital goods (PyA), 27,8%; consumer goods (BC), 21,9%; and the rest, 35,0%, mainly due to the increase in goods shipped by postal services (couriers).

Regarding the main trading partners, Brazil, China and the United States are ranked first, standing out Brazil as the main destination for sales and China as the most important supplier.

Also among the export destinations, Chile, India, Vietnam and the Netherlands stand out. Likewise, Argentina buys significant amounts from Paraguay, Germany, Mexico, Spain, Thailand, the Netherlands and India. (Technical report on Argentine trade exchange for November 2021, INDEC)
