Argentina's trade balance recorded a surplus of 1.1 million in April. 1470 million, the highest value since July 2020, reported the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC) this Wednesday (19.05.2021/XNUMX/XNUMX).

The result is explained because the Exports increased by 41,3% to a value of 6.143 billion dollars, reaching its highest level since August 2014, thanks to the positive evolution of commodity prices.

Meanwhile, Imports totaled 4.673 billion dollars, which represented a year-on-year increase of 61,5% due to the sharp increase in transactions compared to April 2020, when the scheme of restrictions on commercial activity due to the COVID-19 pandemic was in force.

“In April, all general magnitudes (value, quantity and price) of exports and imports increased. It should be noted that imports in April 2020 showed a minimum value in the series, not recorded since May 2009,” the report determined.

The report stated: “All economic uses recorded positive variations: capital goods (BK) rose 66,6%; intermediate goods (BI), 57,2%; fuels and lubricants (CyL) 38,8%; parts and accessories for capital goods (PyA), 90,4%; consumer goods (BC), 34,8%; passenger motor vehicles (VA), 81,6% and the rest (266,7%) mainly due to the increase in goods shipped by postal services (couriers).”

Exports, for their part, gained US$ 1.794 million compared to the same month in 2020, mainly due to a 5,8% increase in prices and a 52,6% increase in quantities. In seasonally adjusted terms, April exports fell 9,7% and, according to the cycle trend, increased 1,4%, in each case, compared to March 2021.
