Guatemala and Honduras modernize infrastructure on three common land borders

 Tomorrow, Thursday, May 20, Guatemala and Honduras will inaugurate the second housing module and complementary works on the three common land borders: Corinth, El Florido and Agua Caliente, announced the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA).

The project is part of the Customs Union between both countries and aims to provide new infrastructure, modernize processes and offer better customer service.

The new infrastructure of the integrated border posts includes Construction of housing modules for staff, lighting and signage, plus,  Remodeling of the facilities, SIECA explained. Additionally, it clarified that the modules have 22 rooms in Corinto; 17 rooms in El Florido and 16 in Agua Caliente.

The facilities, implemented jointly and in a coordinated manner between the countries with the support of SIECA, are intended for the functional requirements of the control processes that meet more than One hundred officials from Customs, Immigration, Agriculture, Health, Internal Revenue and Police of Guatemala and Honduras.

Thus, the improvement of infrastructure for the three border crossings mentioned promotes physical and process integration schemes to minimize the necessary investment, fostering trade facilitation.
